The Batteries of the Annunziata at Gaeta

Gigante portrays the Bourbon stronghold of Gaeta, which was the last defense during the reign of Francis II against the Piedmontese attack of 1861. Through the use of tempera paint, the artist is able to realistically render the tangible naturalism of his artistic investigation, with attention to all of the scene’s details.
