A multi-figural composition given in the exterior, in a green field. In the upper part of the painting, in a narrow band, the sky with small figures on the horizon is portrayed. On the left-hand side are Serbian soldiers on horses, with spears, while on the right are members of Turkish Army on horses, with knives. Murat’s tent is in the right-hand top corner. As a chronicler of his time, he managed for a moment to check the passing of the old and patriarchal way of life, preserving the fluid of the past time. Rustic, elemental realism is his way of maintaining the primeval contact with his environment. Void completely of professional routine, his painting makes a harsh, sonorous impression. His earliest dated works are from 1933, while the most significant collection of his paintings is at Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art, Jagodina (N. Krstić).
