The Beats in June 1940

Janet Beat at three-and-a-half years old, with her family in June 1940. The photograph was taken as a memento as her father (here in his Home Guard uniform) had just received his call-up papers; he would go into the RAF. Not long after this photo was taken, Janet wrote her first piece of music: a piece for her toy piano.
