The Beauty of Fall features nature’s fall colors and textures — trees, ground, landscape and sky — while exploring the veiling and unveiling of the depths of the forest as seasons change.
This work was inspired by a patch of spectacularly colorful fall leaves lying in the backyard. The colors were so striking I knew I had to paint something with them. So, when inspiration hit, I painted with abandon, adopting experimental approaches. What resulted was the birthing of a whole new style and geometric series.
As a painter I seek to capture the mystery and healing power of the natural world. My work is inspired by nature in one way or another, whether it's simply a color palette, a texture, shadows, reflections, flowers, leaves, tiny details, a feeling or an experience. When I’m in nature I feel calm, peaceful, hopeful and renewed. It’s these feelings that I want to explore in my work.
My paintings tend to unfold on their own, as I paint mindfully and follow where the strokes and colors seem to lead me, listening to my intuition, highlighting the interesting and building on what emerges.
