The Bed in the Wedding Room

Rocca Meli Lupi di Soragna

Rocca Meli Lupi di Soragna
Soragna, Italy

A small gilded-wood gate separates the bed from the rest of the room. On the left and right sides of the gate there are an eagle and a wolf recalling the family Coat of Arms. It was made at the end of 17th century by Lorenzo Aili to celebrate the wedding of Giampaolo IV Meli Lupi and Ottavia Rossi. On the ceiling there is a fresco made by Giovanni Bolla, illustrating the Asumption of the Virgin. The gilded-wood canopy is also signed Lorenzo Aili.
