The Beheading of St John the Baptist, an exemplary work of Ionian Island painting. The painter took an earlier work of Michael Damaskinos as his model. The miniature scenes in the background are noteworthy, as is the range of bright colours throughout the picture. The signature of Andreas Kallanas, on the lower part, is of dubious authenticity. Second half of the 18th c. 0.905x0.68 m. Gift of Aimilios Velimezis. (ΓΕ 3731)
