Naina Dalal was born in 1935. She did her Bachelors and Masters from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda, and went to London to learn Lithography from Polytechnique and Etching from Pratt Institute in New York. Dalal has divided her time equally between graphics and painting.

Her initial interest was in lithography, but she has worked on the small etching press for some years now. The image in her illustrations and graphics is of the human figure, often of a woman, as the moving vehicle of pain.

She has had several solos, groups, and retrospective shows of graphics to her credit in various parts of India and abroad. She has also received several awards and fellowships. Her works are in public and private collections in India and New York, Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Berlin Museum of Indian Art, and several others.
