Madhava Menon was a famous painter from Kerala. He was one of Kerala's earliest artists to train at Santiniketan, where he studied under Nandalal Bose. Menon was firmly against modern trends in Indian art and adhered to the oriental style he developed while in Bengal.
His artworks primarily used watercolour to paint delicate watercolours of flowers, animals and trees in their natural elements. Menon was also a keen birdwatcher and often painted detailed images of birds he spotted in Kerala.
