The journal was founded by Alrick Xavier Cambridge, academic and co-founder of Black Unity and Freedom Party, and was published from 1973-1978. The journals contain contributions such as Linton Kwesi Johnson’s 'Five Nights of Bleeding (for Leroy Harris)', Colin Prescod’s 'Revolutions of the Caribbean Peoples', A X Cambridge’s 'Black Workers and the State', Linton Kwesi Johnson’s 'The politics of the lyrics of reggae music', Claudia Jones’ 'The Caribbean community in Britain', A X Cambridge’s 'Criminal procedure, and the Black masses in the United Kingdom' and photographs from the riot at the 1976 Notting Hill Carnival.
