Born in Okitipupa, Ondo State, Nigeria in 1959, Tola Wewe received his higher Institutional studies at the University of Ife and graduated with a degree in Fine Art in 1986. In his works, he depicts a lot of Yoruba myths and folklore drawing also from the Yoruba symbols "Ona" as he explores them in his paintings. He is one of the founding members of the Ona movement which emerged in February, 1989. The movement is a group of practising artists, scholars and critics committed to pursuing artistic excellence through the adaptation and interpretation of traditional materials and methods, forms and styles of contemporary Yoruba art and design.

In this piece, the artist portrays the bond which exists between a mother and her child. The mother looks lovingly at her young child while the child clings to his mother. Some motifs and symbols are also visible in the background. The forms though abstract leaves enough clues for the viewer to guess the main characters in the painting.
