This plate depicts willow herbs (Lythrum), water purslane (Veronica), leontopetalon (Leontice), Medeola, yellow hypopitis (Monotropa hypopitys), Water lilies (Nymphaeaceae), and lotuses (Nelumbo).
The large illustration at the bottom called "the great red Water Lilly" is in fact a water lotus, which though it grows large "lily pads" is not closely to water lilies.
Monotropa hypopitys, also known as dutchman's pipe depicted on this plate, parasitizes fungi in the soil to grow.
