The City. From the cycle “The City”.

Here we see M. K. Čiurlionis exploring the idea of a future city full of white towers. In the middle of the painting, we see a dark grey bridge that seems to float in the air. Behind it, also seemingly floating in mid-air, is a white, pink city. It stretches far away, with clouds hovering in the sky above. The city seems to rise out of the white rocks. The colour and this suspension in air give lightness to the city, it becomes almost angel-like.
