Born in Ibadan in 1948, Kolade Oshinowo had his higher Institutional studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he specialized in painting. He is currently the Chief lecturer of painting at Yaba College School of Art, Design and Painting, Lagos. He is known for his naturalistic paintings and his close observance of traditional Nigerian dress.
In this piece, he portrays the profile of a man with his hair cut low and sunglasses on. He is wearing an interesting necklace which could be attributed to Juju. His sunglasses on the other hand have two symbols depicted on them. While one is the traditional icon of Islamic religion which is the crescent moon and a star, the other is the symbol of Christianity which is the Cross. He renders this painting in monochrome and depicts some symbols on the background of the painting as well.
