The Conservator at work in the Dunard Conservation Studio at St Cecilia’s Hall

Conservation is central to the work of Museums. The Musical Instrument Collection at the University of Edinburgh includes around 6,000 objects, many of which are in playing condition, so our Conservator is kept busy. The Conservation Studio, sponsored by the Dunard Fund, has a glass wall so that visitors can see ‘behind the scenes’ and catch a glimpse of the care and skills required to take care of our heritage collections.
