Brightly coloured depiction of a letter carrier in a long red coat, short red breeches, long white stockings and black waistcoat and top hat. He waves a letter in the air, which two girls try to reach. In his other hand he holds a straight post horn and supports an umbrella. He leans across a donkey. A third girl stand with her back to him though he looks towards her, and an old woman in a bonnet sits in front of the cottage with a newspaper and a cup of tea.
