Dating back to the mid-16th century, this panel shows an "Arcimboldesque" style due to the collaboration between German master glassmaker, Corrado de Mochis from Cologne, with Biagio and Giuseppe Arcimboldi - the latter of which most probably made the preparatory cartoon for the this work - both engaged at the time in the Milan Duomo worksite. It is thought that the panel was placed in the large apse window V21 of the Duomo, dedicated to the stories of the Old Testament. Originally part of a sequence dedicated to the Creation, the panel depicts God the Father (the figure with the mitre) in the act of giving life to plants and vegetables. The stream crossing through the wood is very suggestive, the blooming vegetation emerges poetically thanks to the bright green tiles.
