18th Century

Kenwood had a working dairy, formed of three pavilions. It was fashionable for 18th century ladies to run dairies, it was designed as an elegant place where their friends could visit, and an eye-catcher in the landscape. The dairy included rooms for setting cream, washing utensils, and churning butter, and ornate octagonal rooms where Louisa and her guests took tea. The central pavilion was home to the dairy maid.
