The composition is divided into two horizontal compartments one of happiness and another of despair. A thin white curved horizon line dividing the composition is typical of the Malwa style, this juxtaposes to different narratives into one. The upper panel in blue depicts gods- Brahama, Shiva, Narad, Sanka celebrating Rama’s victory facing Rama, Lakshaman , Hanuman , Angad crowned and adorned with their weapons. The lower compartment in vermilion depicts Ravana’s body laid on logs of sandal wood with his heads placed along with his body. Mandodari, the wife of Ravana standing on the left along with Vibhishan, Sugriva and Jambhav stands paying last tributes to the great demon king Ravana. Thematically as well as formally the painting contains a sharp sense of contrast in totality.
