The Departure of the Israelites

The painting shows an vision of Egyptian architecture with the Jewish people departing for the Promised Land. In 1833, a very large version of the painting was produced by the British Diorama for public entertainment. A hundred years later, Hollywood producers used images like this to recreate the Biblical world on an epic scale.
