Originally a diptych, these two episodes from the story of the biblical heroine, belonging to the early production of the artist when still influenced by Fra Filippo Lippi, were donated to the Grand Duchess Bianca Cappello, second wife of Francesco I de'Medici, by collector Ridolfo Sirigatti around 1580. Previously owned by her son, Don Antonio, they reached the Uffizi in 1632.
