Group J: The Images of the Lost; Group U: American Victorian and Fantastic Architecture. Los Angeles, California. See 13120: Wood House, 835 Sunset Avenue. Close-up of front of lower gallery - showing highly expressive woodwork - and two little girls, Yolanda and Marie Magdaleno (the daughters of Mexican immigrant workers) - who are photographed so as to appear unnaturally wooden - as though caught in the spell of the wooden network around them. Both this picture, and 13120, deal with the atmosphere of this house, and the "spirit of place" in Victorian Los Angeles.
