The Downfall of Mother Bank

President Andrew Jackson holds a document labeled "Order for the removal of the public money deposited in the United States Bank." An upside-down top hat sits on the ground to Jackson's right. Lightning bolts shoot out from the document, causing the pillars of the Second Bank of the United States to topple. Jackson's political foes, including pro-Whig newspaper editors, flee the wreckage, among them Nicholas Biddle (pictured as a devil), Mordecai Manuel Noah, James Watson Webb, Daniel Webster, Henry Clay, and Silas Wright Jr. Receipts and newspapers are scattered over the ground. The fictional character Major Jack Downing, stands to Jackson's left, waving his hat over his head and patting Jackson's shoulder approvingly.
