In 1871, Johanna placed an order with Möllenborg for earrings to match the brooch, which had been obtained twelve years earlier.
The motifs of cameos were often inspired by the classical antiquity, but both the earrings and brooch in this garniture depict animals and natural landscapes. Both earrings feature a mirror-image of the same motif – a man on horseback in a romanticised landscape, which is typical of the Neo-Rococo style.
