After Meissen, the Du Paquier factory in Vienna was the second in Europe to start producing hard or “real” porcelain. Founded in 1718 thanks to the business skills of a court official, Claudius Innocentius Du Paquier, in just a few years it was turning out a whole variety of shapes for dinner services, adorned with characteristic Baroque ribbon and interlacing motifs, and exquisite “European flower” and “Indian flower” decorations.
