「Dona Maria II」號炸毀於澳門氹仔

The incident happened on 29 October 1850. Few personal tensions on board ship can have had such disastrous consequences as those that sank the Dona Maria II, a frigate in the Portuguese Navy. A vengeful crewman blew the ship up with 300 barrels of gunpowder, damaging or sinking nearby vessels and killing 200 people. There is a memorial to the event on Taipa Island.
