Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

During the period after the 1760s, undulating floral patterns were gradually replaced by striped compositions. In this piece, the fabric consists of yellow and white warp, in which the yellow hue consists of modified plain weave and the white hue comprises five bands of warp satin. Meanwhile, the swivel weave technique imbues the weft lines with a fuzziness and sense of elegance.
