Pedro Duarte Freitas da Silva was born in Lisbon on 22 October 1953, Silva Freitas sculptor's son. He attended the courses in painting and sculpture of the Superior School of Fine Arts exposing several times in Portugal and abroad.
His works are part of an endless number of art galleries and private collections around the world, emphasizing its artistic journey, the peculiar technique by itself developed and applied both in stronger paper, whether on canvas or wood. His biggest influence comes from Impressionism and focuses on constructivism strength and abstractionism, showing us a mastery of the energetic and cerebral stroke, whose purges fears and mundane experiences. Tell us often of Francis Bacon (1909-1992), artist, and we foresee a work of nightmarish and grotesque image, but rejects pedophile and homoerotic fantasies for good. An art of catharsis and self-identity, where the dark lies expanding ocher and blue lacerating the oranges compositions claiming red and cool tones such as green.
Under the influence of Henry Moore (1898-1986) developed a three-dimensional work, primarily figurative with forays into abstraction. Drinking one Modernism with Moore and his initial artistic training, not forgetting his father's closeness.
Oblivious of artistic production as a means, prefers the deconstruction of the look of a foreign public itself, a solitary creative route. Creates as destroys! The intensity with which picks up the brush or spatula is the same with spilling layers of paint to hide their work, intending to hide it, hiding. As its said: "I have to die ... I have had a lot of work with it!"
A visceral and unique work that I fell in love. Genuine and honest: sensory and cerebral. An artistic journey that blends with himself: the Innermost.
