The Gallery’s ceiling canvas represents Fame, characterized by the wings and a trumpet, leading Michelangelo to the stage of an amphitheatre, where a crown awaits him. Behind the master, there are the artists of the past: those on the horizon are the ancient artists, in which we can recognize Apelle, with the portrait of Alessandro Magno, meanwhile, the ones more clearly, are artists of the recent past, identifiable with Donatello and Ghiberti.
