Milwaukee, United States

At lower left, Vulcan is seen forging arrows for Cupid--hammer in right hand, tongs in left--as the winged cherub is focused on the spaniel immediately in front of Vulcan. Over Vulcan's shoulder, at left center, Venus looks over his shoulder with downward gaze of a vacant nature.
Just left of center is the forge, tended to by a smith and presumably Cyclops, at center with his back to the viewer. In the right foreground, two additional smiths occupy the scene. They are at a work bench surrounded with scattered copper and brassware. The smith at the bench appears to be counting coins, while the man at far right works a copper pot with a hammer.
