This piece of collaborative writing was created by BALTIC Foundation Club participants Beck, Betsy, Eilidh, Ted and Theresa with artists Zoe Murtagh and Laura Stutter Garcia, alongside BALTIC's Learning team.
Zoe challenged us to each take a moment away from the screen to move and dance to music, before coming back and writing freely in response to the following prompts:
'I am...'
'You are...'
'The world is...'
'The future will be...'
This free writing technique allowed us to come up with lots of answers very quickly, like a stream of consciousness, without filtering our thoughts. We each chose our favourite of our own answers and sent them to each other, and these were compiled to create a piece of writing inspired by manifesto and poetry.
This piece was made at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art as part of Arts Council England's The Way I See It project which captures the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the lives of children and young people, articulated in their own voices, through their own creativity.
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead creates and produce exhibitions, events and learning opportunities that explore the role of art and artists, and the world around us.
