The Gate of Peacefulness was erected in 1912-1919 in honor of the historical event, when the victory of the insurrection of the Mongols against the Manchu domination at the end of 1911 and the proclamation of the 8th Bogd Jebtsundamba Khutuktu as the theocratic Khan of absolute monarchy of Mongolia.
