The knights of Christ were people who took up the sword in the name of Christ, following the medieval chivalric ideal.
There are several sovereigns among this group - possibly the leaders of the crusades. Some have been identified, though never conclusively, as Louis IX (St Louis), Godfrey of Bouillon and Charlemagne.
