This inrō by Shibata Zeshin has a somewhat different form. Rather than being stacked containers, it has drawers. The design is of small dolls (hinaningyō) and a shell-matching game (kaiawase) used displays on Girl’s Day (March 3, momo no sekkū). It must have been carried as a seasonally appropriate accessory.
