The Gnome

John Hoyland was an English painter. He liked to try out new ideas and became a well known abstract artist. Abstract art might not look like something we know or recognize. For this piece he was influenced by a piece of music called 'Pictures at an Exhibition' by a Russian composer, Modest Mussorgsky.
