The Great Western Hotel was built in a Gothic revival style in c 1870. It underwent alterations in 1876 and was extended in 1896. Situated opposite the railway station, it offered a convenient location to travellers.

The Great Western Hotel is listed Grade II for its architecural and historical significance.
