The greenhouses in the Cactus and Succulent Garden were designed by landscape architect Franz Koepp in the 1950s to host new botanical collections. The first greenhouse represents the desert climate with a collection of cacti and succulents that need dry winters and humid summers and therefore wouldn't be able to grow outside the greenhouse. The second greenhouse is home to the tropical plant collection with a tank where, in the warmer months, Victoria cruziana and other tropical aquatic plants grow and bloom.
