The Guildhall, Kingston Upon Thames, Greater London

Seven Saxon Kings were crowned at Kingston. Centuries later it was from here that Jerome K Jerome and his companions set off on their adventure upstream in 'Three Men in a Boat' (1889). The Guildhall was begun in 1934 and completed the following year. Pictorial representations of the River Thames were included in decorative details on the building, including on its iron gates.
