The Health Hydro was built as the Great Western Railway (GWR) Medical Fund Baths and Dispensary. Designed by Swindon architect JJ Smith, the first phase of the building was built in 1891-2. It included two swimming pools, medical consultation rooms and a dispensary. Additions were made in 1898-9, 1903 and 1905.
