The Market Hall in the centre of Birmingham opened in 1835. It was designed by architect Charles Edge, who also contributed to Birmingham Town Hall. The Market Hall was almost completely destroyed during a bombing raid in August 1940. The remains were demolished as part of the redevelopment of the Bull Ring in the 1960s.
