The history of the Dukes of Brabant

In 1315 or 1316, when the Duchy of Brabant was plagued by torrential rain, famine and epidemics, the town clerk of Antwerp, Jan van Boendale, started on a grand historiographic project. In five books, totaling twelve thousand verses , he described the history of the Dukes of Brabant.
