Pietro da Cortona1641/1642

Casa Buonarroti

Casa Buonarroti
Firenze, Italy

The doors, carried out by Benedetto Calenzuoli to a design by Pietro da Cortona, shows a serie of virtues which have belonged to Mcihelangelo. The Imitating arts are represented by an allegory with two figures: on the right, a male figure holds in his hands palette and a chisel, meanwhile at his feet is represented a monkey and on the left, a female figure offers to her partner a laurel wreath.
