The Inland Empire

1999

Dallas Museum of Art

Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas, United States

Named for an area of greater Los Angeles, this work is part of a series of nine computer-assisted photographs collectively titled In a Matter of Days. They document the arrival in Los Angeles of a grotesque breed of monsters born from smog and movies. Neither real nor unreal, the work asks these questions: What if there were monsters out there like this? What if they turned on us? What would happen?
