Several horsemen on parade during the Durbar festival in Kano. During the Durbar festival in Northern Nigeria, horsemen clad in colorful robes, indigo turbans, ostrich feathers and glistening swords honor their Emir who enters the parade shielded from the sun by a massive twirling parasol. Residents of Kano line up the streets to watch horse parades by Emir called "Hawan Daushe". As usual, the Durbar ends with series of Dane Gun salute shot by the Yan Bindiga. Hawan Daushe attracts diplomats from around the globe, who converge in Kano to witness the beautiful cultural event.
