This work marks the beginning of Marco Pando’s incursion into filmmaking. The video reflects the nostalgia of the people from the provinces who migrate to Lima, expressed by the song by Lorenzo Palacios Quispe, a.k.a. Chacalón [large puma], an indisputable idol of migrants, since his songs express the collective memory of Lima’s popular sectors. The work is an animated visual document brought to life through the language of filmmaking, where each fragment of the story is drawn on 35mm film, with a blade and marking pens. The video is a record of the film’s original projection, presented by the artist himself in a mobile cinema – a tent that resembles itinerant cinemas while moreover having the form of the no longer existing Cine San Martín, in Cajamarca, formerly owned by the artist’s family.
