Small sword carried by King Gustav IV Adolf on 13 March 1809 at the coup-d’état when he was dethroned. The weapon is based upon the early 18th Century officer’s type but decorated by the King’s wishes. The left side of the blade is decorated with (from the hilt) scull and crossbones, overlapping sword and cross and a Cherubim. The first two symbol-groups are masonic and the Cherubim is a symbol of the King’s divide power.
