Atlanta historian Franklin Garrett once called the 1856 Grant Mansion the City of Atlanta's most historic structure. Here, Atlanta’s defenses were designed for the Civil War; the golf legend Bobby Jones was born; and the house was later owned by Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind. The L.P. Grant Mansion now serves as the headquarters of the Atlanta Preservation Center.
