The large dragon pillars (Dairyuchu) which stand facing each other horizontally on the stairway at the center of the Seiden Main Hall were built for the first time in 1509. They were subsequently rebuilt on several occasions as a consequence of fires and rebuilding of the Seiden. In terms of seize and shape, the present pillars were modeled on those created in 1712.
