This gouache tells the legend of Hippo. Several sailing ships are depicted in a wide bay. The sailing ship on the right has three masts. Several colorfully depicted people are standing on deck. In front of the ship a woman in a pinkish-red gown, Hippo, is thrown into the water as a sacrifice. In the middle she is rescued by a dolphin. On the left Hippo is back on shore, where she is welcomed by women and a child. This gouache is a copy, probably from the eighteenth century, of an oil painting by Bernardino Fungai.
