An optical engraving titled The Magic Lantern" that was accompanying an article "The Gallant -ee show" from a periodical the Magic Lantern Vol 1 (1) published in 1822 by John Johnston (active 1809-1823) attributed to Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827). Although it was published as a Chinese court looking at the Magic Lantern it is a satirical British cartoon with British political figures portrayed in it. For example the figure on the Throne is Yorge-Hi or George IV of England and the figure sitting on the Turtle stool is Qua-Li Kurt-hees or Sir William Curtis.
