Two artworks exhibited at Asylum Studios, Suffolk, in 2018. On the floor stands a 3D papier mache superhero character wearing a red and black costume and mask, and on the wall, a mixed media artwork featuring an assemblage of found materials including cans, packaging and natural materials such as cones and sticks. Both artworks were created by artist partership, Amy Nettleton and Patrick Parker.
Amy Nettleton and Patrick Parker share an affinity with the discarded and unwanted. Both artists work predominantly in 3D. During this collaboration Parker has used packaging and corrugated card to develop a series of works whilst Nettleton uses objects that have lost their intended purpose to make new concept based works. She is also interested in accidental photography. Working together regularly has progressed both their practices and thoughts about what they do and why.
Step Up was our inclusive professional development programme for visual artists in Suffolk. Artists worked together in pairs, as equals, to: explore creativity; produce new works of art inspired by each others’ practice; develop new support networks; and benefit from artistic and professional development.
